I've Been Tagged!
If you haven't already done so, I strongly encourage you to check out the Six Figure Challenge

Now, it seems that I have been tagged by
Wendy -- five things you didn't know about me. Hmmm... what to write, what to write?
1.
I'm a twin. Some people may know this already; others, may not. In either case, I do indeed have an identical twin sister. We were born four minutes apart (I'm the older one, whoopee!) Although we looked exactly alike when we were younger, as we've grown we have developed our own distinct look - but you can still tell we are twins, of course!
2.
I've been writing since I was 3. Granted, I wasn't writing novels at this time, but I have indeed wanted to be a writer since such a young age. I don't know how I knew then what I wanted to be for the rest of my life, but since then I haven't stopped writing and my writing goals have not changed! I actually had it in my mind that I was going to grow up to be the next female Stephen King -- stay tuned, that may still happen! :P
3.
I'm a vegetarian. Five years this month, to be exact. While I've always been pretty animal-friendly, I wasn't able to fully make the change until I was about 15 years old. One of my science teachers in high school told our class about the horrors of meat processing plants, and literally that day I went home and told everyone I was becoming a vegetarian. I get a lot of crap for it at times, but I'm lucky that I have the support of most of my family members.
4.
I'm pigeon-toed. While it's not super pronounced unless you already know that I am, you can tell I'm pigeon-toed because of the way I stand. It makes for some interesting conversation, because I can turn my feet at very odd angles that most people can't. Oh, and if you look at my shoes you can see that the front corners of my shoes wear out more than any other area because of the way I walk and stand.
5.
I have immense stage fright. Despite the fact that I've been singing since... well, forever -- and I was in choir all throughout high school, when I have to sing by myself in front of people I freak out. Literally. The only person I can sing in front of comfortably is my sister. Otherwise, I start getting sweaty, I shake, I cry. Trust me, it's not a pretty sight!
I know I'm supposed to tag 5 other people to do this now, but honestly, I have no clue who hasn't already been subjected to this little exercise. Whoever wants to be "tagged," feel free! :)

Six Figure Challenge Rants
It has come to my attention lately that there may be certain individuals that believe I and the four other writers involved with the
Six Figure Challenge are lacking both the credentials and experience necessary to attempt such a goal. I'm not sure what credentials a writer should have in order to try to improve their writing and work towards a collective goal with their fellow colleagues; I guess I missed that memo.
Honestly, I am fine with constructive criticism or tips on how to improve the challenge and accompanying Myspace page and forum. However, I can't tolerate such blatant disregard towards what we are attempting to do. Whether we are published authors, "content writers" (what that term means is an entry for another day) or accomplished journalists, I believe all writers that are serious about their craft have the ability to reach six figures within a year. It's a matter of hard work and dedication, NOT name dropping the companies you've worked with in the past.
I apologize for the heated rant, but sometimes -- people tick me off. You are welcome to leave your thoughts in the comment box below, or drop by the six figure challenge forum or blog and discuss your opinions there.

Six Figure Challenge Updates
If you are a writer or know someone who is, please please PLEASE tell them about the

Blog. The forum is only a few weeks old, but it's already hopping with several discussions relevant to freelance writers and their careers. If you're looking for great market resources, inspiration from your fellow writers and ways to improve your craft, there's no better place to do so than among a friendly, helpful community of writers.
As 2007 approaches, I can't help but feel excited and nervous about the prospect of taking on such an enormous challenge. I encourage you to follow along and share in our successes and our mistakes. There's even a sub-section of the forum where you can track your own progress.

Six Figure Challenge
I realize I haven't updated in quite some time, but I really do have justification for it.
I'm involved in
The Six Figure Challenge, as well as four other like-minded writers. Beginning the start of 2007, I and the four other writers involved with the challenge will take on the enormous goal of making 100,000 dollars with our writing. Sounds ambitious, doesn't it? As a collective effort, we will learn and grow together as we work to not only earn a sizeable income from our passion, but to educate new writers that they do not have to take ridiculously low-paying jobs in order to make a living.
I hope you'll follow along with our progress as we strive to reach our goal by the end of 2007. In addition to our website, we've also orchestrated a
Myspace page and a
Forum. New market listings will be posted daily on each resource, so be sure to check them out if you're looking for places to submit your work. You need to register to view market listings on the forum, but considering my good friend Jenn posts the higest-paying gigs there, you'll definitely want to check it out!
